Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County is a nonprofit Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in Morgan County, Alabama. We provide opportunities for the community to show God’s love in action in partnership with people in need, as we break the cycle of poverty by providing decent, affordable housing and improving the quality of life of our partner families. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Check out our CONSTRUCTION CALENDAR to see where we currently need volunteers. It's building time again...come join us!! ![]() • Habitat homes are given away. Habitat houses are sold at cost and with no interest to Habitat families. House payments are used to build more Habitat houses. • Anyone can get a Habitat house. Families are selected based on three criteria: need for decent, affordable housing; ability to repay a zero-interest mortgage; willingness to put in “sweat equity” hours, including educational classes that help them succeed as homeowners. • Jimmy Carter started Habitat. Habitat for Humanity International was started by Millard and Linda Fuller. Jimmy Carter is our most famous volunteer. |
