Donating Materials

Your contributions are welcome . . . and needed. Pickup of items is available, and every donation will help support Habitat's mission of providing adequate housing to those in need.

To make a donation, call the ReStore at (256) 308-1160 to arrange for pickup. We are seeking additional volunteers to assist with pickup of donated materials throughout Morgan County.  You may also drop off donations during store hours.  Those making drop-offs will receive a 10% discount coupon good on their next ReStore purchase.

Appliances
Items 7 years old or less in good working order with no repairs needed (ranges, ovens, washer/dryer, water heaters, refrigerators, range hoods, microwave ovens). We cannot accept appliances that do not work. Please include owners manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation.
Architectural Items
Columns, mantels, antique windows, porch posts, etc.
Cabinets/Countertops
Individual pieces or full cabinet sets (kitchen or bathroom). Must have all door and drawers and be in stable condition. Countertops must be in good condition with minimal chips or damage.
Doors
Pre-hung or door slabs (cannot be taller than 84", free of rot, all panes intact), exterior/interior entry, sliding glass (must have all tracking, glass must be intact without cracks or fogging).
Electrical
Wire, plugs, plates and hardware associated with electrical wiring. Residential items only and no large donations of miscellaneous stock.
Fans
Must be working, blades removed and taped to motor with mounting hardware.
Flooring Materials
Carpets (new or gently used and clean with no visible stains or odors), sheet vinyl flooring in usable lengths (rolled and taped), vinyl or ceramic tile (undamaged) and wood flooring (free from rot and in usable quantities (25 sq. ft or more)
Hardware
Complete sets of door hardware, hinges, etc. and any quantity of nails, screws, hangars, connectors, etc. (free from rust, unbent)
Furniture
Good condition - no rips, tears, broken parts or animal odors
Insulation
New only.
Lighting
Fluorescent and incandescent in good to excellent condition with complete fixtures in working order.
Lumber
Framing, trim and pressure treated. Plywood to be full, half or quarter sheets only. Milled lumber to be 4ft. lengths or greater. Siding to be full lengths and free of rot and insects.
Masonry
Cinderblock and bricks (whole, intact and in good condition)
Paint/Wall Coverings
Latex paint or stain (full 1 gal or 5 gal cans only with color identified) and wall coverings to be unopened rolls only.
Plumbing
Sinks (all types, no rust or cracks, drop in preferred, stainless or porcelain), bathtubs (new or used in clean, non-stained, or chipped condition, clawfoot bathtubs, fiberglass bathtubs/stalls with small cracks or holes accepted, 1.6 gal. flush commodes accepted (not chipped and must be clean and in good working condition), plumbing hardware and pipe (PVC, metal and copper in 4ft. lengths or greater)
Roofing Materials/Gutters
Shingles in full bundles, rolls of roofing material and new roofing gutter materials in full pieces with no rust or damage.
Sheet Rock
Wallboard and drywall in 4ft. lengths or greater.
Tools
Hand or power tools in any working condition and will sell "as is"
Vents
Floor, ceiling and return vents which are clean and in good working condition.
Vinyl Siding and Accessories
Full length pieces only.
Windows/Screens
Dual Pane only. All windows must be inspected before acceptance. Must be in good condition with glass intact and no fogging conditions. Wooden windows must be free from rot. All windows to be in complete units.
Miscellaneous Items
Shutters, HVAC units, AC Units, free standing wood stoves, thermostats, fans, mirrors (framed only)
MATERIALS WE CANNOT ACCEPT:
• Blinds
• Broken or unframed Glass
• Broken mirrors
• Open or Partial cans of paint
• Paint thinner or other hazardous or toxic chemicals
• Pesticides
• Used appliances over 7 years old or in non-working condition
• Scrap lumber
• Commercial electrical or plumbing stock
• Clothing
• Drapes
NOTE: The Habitat ReStore has the right to refuse any donation for any reason.

Saturday
9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
