Donating Materials

Your contributions are welcome . . . and needed. Pickup of items is available, and every donation will help support Habitat's mission of providing adequate housing to those in need.

To make a donation, call the ReStore at (256) 308-1160 or use our convenient pickup request form by clicking here.
You may also drop off donations during store hours.  Those making drop-offs will receive a coupon good for $5 off a purchase of $25 or more.

Items 7 years old or less in good working order with no repairs needed (ranges, ovens, washer/dryer, refrigerators, range hoods, microwave ovens). We cannot accept appliances that do not work. Please include owners manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation.

Architectural Items

Columns, mantels, antique windows, porch posts, etc.


Individual pieces or full cabinet sets (kitchen or bathroom). Must have all door and drawers and be in stable condition. Countertops must be in good condition with minimal chips or damage.


Pre-hung or door slabs (must be free of rot, all panes intact), exterior/interior entry, sliding glass (must have all tracking, glass must be intact without cracks or fogging).


Wire, plugs, plates and hardware associated with electrical wiring. Residential items only.

Ceiling Fans

Must be in working order, please make sure to include all mounting hardware and screws.

Flooring Materials

Carpets (new) sheet vinyl flooring in usable lengths (rolled and taped), vinyl or ceramic tile (undamaged) and wood flooring (free from rot and in usable quantities (25 sq. ft or more)


Complete sets of door hardware, hinges, etc. and any quantity of nails, screws, hangars, connectors, etc. (free from rust, unbent)


Good condition - no rips, tears, broken parts or animal odors.


New only.


Fluorescent and incandescent lighting in working order with all pieces, parts, and hardware.


Framing, trim and pressure treated. Plywood to be full, half or quarter sheets only. Milled lumber to be 4ft. lengths or greater. Siding to be full lengths and free of rot and insects.


Cinderblock and bricks (whole, intact and in good condition)


Latex paint or stain (full 1 gal or 5 gal cans only with color identified) and wallpaper to be unopened rolls only.


Sinks (all types, no rust or cracks, drop in preferred, stainless or porcelain), bathtubs (new or used in clean, non-stained, or chipped condition, clawfoot bathtubs, fiberglass bathtubs/stalls with small cracks or holes accepted, 1.6 gal. flush commodes accepted (not chipped and must be clean and in good working condition), plumbing hardware and pipe (PVC, metal and copper in 4ft. lengths or greater)

Roofing Materials/Gutters

Shingles in full bundles, rolls of roofing material and new roofing gutter materials in full pieces with no rust or damage.

Sheet Rock

Wallboard and drywall in 4ft. lengths or greater.


Hand or power tools in any working condition. Portable power tools preferably with working batteries and chargers.


Floor, ceiling and return vents which are clean and in good working condition.

Vinyl Siding and Accessories

Full length pieces only.


Dual Pane only. All windows must be inspected before acceptance. Must be in good condition with glass intact and no fogging conditions. Wooden windows must be free from rot. All windows to be in complete units. Wooden sashes also accepted in good condition.

Miscellaneous Items

Shutters, HVAC units, AC Units, free standing wood stoves, thermostats, fans, mirrors (framed only), Window coverings,


No clothing or shoes
Toys, car seats, baby items
Broken Mirror or Glass
Open or Partial cans of paint
Hazardous, Flammable, or Toxic chemicals
Used appliances over 7 years old or in non-working condition
No dishwashers or water heaters.
Wooden Cabinet T.V.s, Tube type T.V.s and projection T.V.s. .
Computer hard drives, printers, or CRT monitors.
Commercial electrical or plumbing stock
Kitchen or vanity faucets, unless in brand new condition still in manufacturer's sealed box.
Used mattresses and or Box Springs.

NOTE: The Habitat ReStore has the right to refuse any donation for any reason.
