Habitat for Humanity brings families and communities in need together with volunteers and resources to build simple, decent, affordable houses.
Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County is a nonprofit Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in Morgan County, Alabama. We provide opportunities for the community to show God’s love in action in partnership with people in need, as we break the cycle of poverty by providing decent, affordable housing and improving the quality of life of our partner families.
 
Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.  Check out our CONSTRUCTION CALENDAR to see where we currently need volunteers.

Habitat homes are given away.
Habitat houses are sold at cost and with no interest to Habitat families.
House payments are used to build more Habitat houses.
 
Anyone can get a Habitat house.
Families are selected based on three criteria: need for decent, affordable housing;
ability to repay a zero-interest mortgage; willingness to put in 400 hours of “sweat equity”,
including several hours of educational classes that help them succeed as homeowners.
