The Family Selection Committee is responsible for: •drafting the selection criteria used to select families for approval by the Board of Directors •informing prospective homeowners that they may be eligible to apply •developing an orientation program for applicants •developing application forms •screening applications •interviewing prospective families •recommending applications to the Board of Directors for approval

The Family Support Committee mentors partner families by: •keeping them accountable for "sweat equity" hours (volunteer service) •providing homeowner education classes •assisting them with the home purchase process •helping them adjust to new responsibilities •encouraging continued partnership with the Habitat organization The committee is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the affiliate's support program.

The Construction Committee: •works with Site Selection to evaluate potential sites •creates workable, house plans •develops systems and schedules for organizing families and volunteers for construction •supervises construction •procures materials •handles safety issues •establishes contacts in the professional community

The Site Selection Committee: •identifies potential sites •evaluates sites' availability and appropriateness •evaluates sites' suitability for affiliate's basic house plans •develops a site acquisitions criteria policy for board approval •implements the board-approved site acquisition policy •maintains acquired sites

The Resource Development Committee is responsible for: •planning and executing public education and awareness programs •conducting fund-raising efforts •requesting opportunities at churches, businesses, and civic organizations and making adequate presentations •encouraging partner families and volunteers to participate in presentations •maintaining appropriate records of fund-raising efforts •effectively employing the help of all Board members in fund-raising efforts •producing newsletter

The Finance Committee is responsible for: •developing and implementing the annual affiliate budget in conjunction with the staff and other commitee chairs •overseeing the special accounts associated with Habitat, including the Fund for Humanity, the reserve required by the Alabama Housing Finance Authority, and any investment or savings accounts •working closely with Family Support in the matter of homeowner delinquenciesCommittee members should be able to understand financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets. The treasurer is automatically a member of this committee.
